Flame-shaped means wide at the base and pointed at the tip, and that is exactly why you use it: with the side you work along the edge, and with the point you reach into the corners by the nail fold, where a wide barrel bit cannot go.

How to use:

1. Click the bit into the handpiece and check that it is seated properly.
2. Push your cuticles back first, so you can see where the skin ends.
3. Start on a low setting and work along the edge with the side of the bit.
4. Use the point only in the corners, and stay off the skin itself.
5. Keep the bit moving and work with light pressure.
6. Clean the bit after every use and store it dry.
